National Commission for Women, NCW, will send a committee to inspect the circumstances that led to the death of a girl after being repeatedly gangraped in West Bengal.

Talking to the media in New Delhi today, NCW Chairperson Mamta Sharma said she would write to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on what action she is taking against such cases occuring in the State.

The chairperson also said that had the police been alert, the victim would not have been raped a second time.

The victim who had been brutalised twice on October 25, had died at a Kolkata hospital yesterday from burns sustained when she tried to immolate herself on December 23.
