Concerned over the unabated poll-related violence in West Bengal, Election Commission, EC, has asked the state CEO and top officials of the administration to increase pre and post polling vigil in the known troubled belts, further tighten the security measures and effectively utilize the Central forces deployed in adequate numbers. The directive came from the CEC, Dr. Nasim Zaidi who headed a full bench review meeting of EC, through video conferencing, Monday evening. The online meet assessed preparations for the 3rd phase polling due on Thursday.<br/><br/>Reports of the continued sporadic violence last night and today from the districts of Birbhum, Burdwan, North 24-Parganas, Howrah and Nadia have been received. Several activists of various political parties have been hospitalized. A number of them are reported to be critical.
