The West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee has called for united resistance against Centre’s attempt to malign the State Government and her party on Saradha Chit fund scam. Addressing a rally in Kolkata this afternoon, Ms. Banerjee strongly criticized the Centre for using the CBI on political reason for probing the scam. She said that CBI has failed to nab the culprits involved in the scam instead, they are harassing the others. Ms. Banerjee firmly said that her party will not tolerate such malicious campaign and said that if the Centre dare they can arrest her if found guilty. The Trinamool Congress Supremo blamed the centre for illegal infiltration from Bangladesh and its failure to bring back black money in the country.
Earlier, Trinamool Congress took out a procession led by Ms. Banerjee in Kolkata this afternoon condemning the alleged conspiracy against the state by the centre.
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement the State BJP President Mr. Rahul Sinha alleged that Ms. Banerjee is trying to shield her party leaders by criticizing the CBI. He said that the CBI took up the probe as per directives of the Supreme Court and criticism against them is equal to contempt of Court.
Union Minister Babul Supriyo also today hit back at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her attack on the Centre, saying that anarchy prevails in West Bengal and the Trinamool Congress has lost its credibility to rule the state. Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament, the Minister said the law and order situation in West Bengal was very alarming.
Criticizing the TMC government for the Saradha scam, Supriyo said, Mamata Banerjee is taking to the streets to protest against the alleged misuse of CBI by the Centre but the chit fund scam has toyed with money of the poor. Mr Supriyo also said it was sad and disheartening to see a Chief Minister, who has come up fighting for the poor, take such a stand.
