WB CM stresses need for reaching consensus among political parties to end violence in state

The West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacherjee has stressed the need for reaching consensus among political parties to end violence in the state. Replying to a question in the State Assembly today, Mr. Bhattacharjee expressed concern over political clashes at various parts in the state and sought cooperation from opposition to stop violence. The Chief Minister informed the house that 69 persons and 12 policemen were killed in clashes at Purulia, Bankura and West Mednipore Districts during last 11 months. Mr. Bhattacharjee also advocated for joint operations by the West Bengal and Jharkhand to curb Maoists menace in the state. The opposition Trinamul Congress staged walk out from the house protesting Chief Minister’s remarks that their party has a link with Maoists. While Congress also boycotted the house for governments inaction against Burdwan district administration for hackling a party legislative team at Mangolkot by ruling party activists in June this year.<br/>
