West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee said today that the state's 'Nirmal Bangla Project' is all set to become one of the models for the Centre's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. <br/><br/>Ms.Banerjee said in Kolkata that Secretary of Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Ministry Parameswaran Iyer today informed her that the Centre has decided to use Nirmal Bangla project as a model for Swatchh Bharat. Mr. Iyer later told reporters that West Bengal is doing a great job in the field of sanitation and drinking water. <br/><br/>'Nirmal Bangla' is Bengal's version of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which was launched in October 2014. On April 30, 2015, Nadia became the first district in the country to earn open defecation-free status.
