The West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today met Home Minister P Chidambaram and discussed the prevailing situation in the state. The meeting took place in the back drop of political killings in the left ruled state. The Home Minister and the State Chief Minister have exchanged a number of letters on the issue. Mr.Bhattacharjee was invited by Mr.Chidambaram to visit Delhi nearly a month ago for discussion. This followed repeated demands of UPA ally Trinamool Congress that the Centre must intervene to stop the violence in West Bengal. AIR correspondent reports that during the 45-minute meeting, Bhattacharjee is understood to have explained the situation in violence-hit areas to the Home Minister and the steps being taken by the state government.
