In West Bengal, Chief Minister and President of the ruling Trinamool Congress Mamata Bannerjee has announced that she will contest in the upcoming State Assembly Election from Nandigram seat in Purba Medinipur. Nandigram is the constituency of Shubhendu Adhikari, who has left the ruling party and ministerial berth and joined BJP recently. It may be recalled that Nandigram was the epicentre of a farmers agitation and Ms Bannerjee's fight against a proposed SEZ propelled TMC into power a decade ago.<br />''<br />''On 14th of March 2007, 14 persons lost their lives in clashes between agitators and police.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">In the last Assembly Elections, Ms Bannerjee contested from Bhawanipore seat in Kolkata.
