India has signed two agreements for a World Bank loan of 407 million US dollars for scaling up of sustainable micro-finance and strengthening of the statistical institutions in the country. According to an official release, a loan of 300 million US dollars for the first project to be implemented by SIDBI, will help in providing access to microfinance services to the financially excluded sections. The second loan of 107 million US dollars will go a long way in strengthening the institutions of leadership and co-ordination of the National Statistical System. The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
