WB celebrates Mahanavami with traditional fervor & gaiety

West Bengal is celebrating Mahanavami today, the third day of the five day long Durga Puja festival. People from all walks of life are visiting Durga Pandals to see idols. AIR-Kolkata correspondent reports that the metropolis is hit by the puja fever. Brilliantly decorated pandals with illuminations have been set up from one end to the other end of the city. Beating of drums and blowing of microphones have created an extra attraction in the atmosphere.As fine weather prevails, the festive sprit has reached to its peak on the Mahanavami day with thousand of people flocking different community puja pandals. Although, the people are a bit of apprehensive about the weather as there was forecast of occasional showers, but rain gods choose not to dampen the enthusiasm of pandal hoppers.As the day progressed into evening the city lit up with illumination. The organizers of all major community pujas are facing difficulties to manage crowds which began to swell from afternoon. Traffic on all the major roads of the city come to a virtual standstill as revelers poured on to streets to celebrate the festival.
