The West Bengal Assembly today passed a Bill to set up a private University first of its kind in the state. Replying to the discussions on the bill the State Education Minister Mr. Bratya Basu said that, the Government has taken the decision to expend the scope of higher education. He said that, it is difficult to accommodate all the students, who passed 12 class standards for perusing higher education in the present infrastructure. Responding to the members concern Mr. Basu said that, the Government will monitor the functioning of the Techno India University particularly its fees structure, teaching quality and infrastructure. The house also passed another two bills for setting up two state owned universities at Burdwan and Coochbehar districts.
