The prime accused in the Chit Fund scam in West Bengal Sudipto Sen and two of his associates will be produced at a court in Salt Lake this afternoon. The trio were brought back to Kolkata last night on transist remand after police arrested them from Kashmir last Monday. Our Kolkata Correspondent reports that three accused have already reached the SDJ (M) court in Salt Lake amidst tight security and legal proceedings will start soon.
Large number of depositers and agents of Sardha group who have lost everything have assembled near the court premises at Salt Lake. Strong security measures are in place in and around the SDJ (M) court to avoid any untoward incident.Opposition Congress supprters staged a demonstration in front of the court building accusing the ruling party for allowing the flourshing of the chit fund in the State in the present regime. According to official sources police have started primary interrogation of the accused and they had undergone a medical check up this morning.
In Assam, protest continues in several parts of the state against Saradha for duping thousands of investors. Hundreds of people today staged protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro in Guwahati under the banner of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti demanding return of the money to the depositors and resignation of a minister of the state. Several field agents of the company have also joined in the protest .Guwahati SSP said that a police team is likely to go to Kolkata by tomorrow to interrogate Sudipto Sen,the Head of Saradha group. Assam Government is seriously contemplating to move the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against some companies for swindling public money.
