In UP, the water level of Ganga, Ghaghra and its tributaries has shot up due to heavy rainfall in the catchments. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent quoting met officials reports that one to 7 centimetres of rainfall has occurred in Allahabad, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Jaunpur and Ghazipur during last twenty four hours. The river Ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Ghazipur and Ballia. The river has touched the warning level in Varanasi. Ghaghra is flowing above the danger mark in Ballia and Elgin Bridge while the river Saryu is still 34 centimetres above the danger mark in Ayodhya. Heavy rain is lashing Gorakhpur division since early morning.
