In Punjab, water level of the dams is decreasing due to slow and late melting of snow in the catchments of the dams. Official sources said that water level of Pong Dam is 1299.64 feet which is 50.22 feet less as compared to last year on this date. Water level of Bhakhra Dam is at 1527 .62 feet which is also 50.46 feet less than last year’s level on this date. Punjab, Irrigation Minister, Janmeja Singh Sekhon appealed to the farmers to use irrigation water with utmost restraint as the water level of the dams is decreasing by one foot every day. Due to the low level of water power generation is also being affected.
