Water level in Pong and Bhakra dam is increasing regularly. There has been a heavy inflow of water due to rain and snow melting in the catchment areas of the rivers on which these dams are situated. The level of water in the Pong Dam was 1349.96 ft, which is 64.68 ft higher on the same date last year. It is highest in the past 8 years on the corresponding day. Level of water in the Bhakra Dam is 1577.42 ft, which is the highest in the past three years on the corresponding day. Bhakhra Beas Management Board (BBMB) power houses are registering maximum hydel power generation these days in a day. Bhakhra Dam power projects, canal power stations, Dehar power station and Pong power station produced 428.58 lakh units of power on Sunday last. An Official spokesman said that water inflow into the Bhakra dam per day is 36,000 to 40,000 cusecs while the release is 26,000 to 27,000 cusecs. With this much inflow water level in the dam increases 0.7 to 0.8 inches daily.
