Water level in 91 reservoirs dips to 18%

The water level in 91 major reservoirs across the country has dipped to 18 per cent of their total capacity. According to Ministry of Water Resources, the reservoirs whose total storage capacity is over 157 Billion Cubic Metre (BCM), are now having only about 28 BCM of water. The levels are 41 per cent short of the stock available during corresponding period last year and 20 per cent less than the 10-year average storage levels. <br/><br/>States including Punjab, Odisha, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have reported lower levels of water in major reservoirs compared to last year. Andhra Pradesh and Tripura have reported better water storage as compared to last year.
