In Odisha, there is no possibility of any major flood as of now. While water level in major rivers including the Mahanadi is decreasing, the water inflow into the Hirakud dam is also decreasing. However, many pockets in the low-lying areas of a number of districts are inundated due to the incessant rains, a few days back.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #000000;">AIR correspondent reports that, the water level in the largest dam in Odisha, Hirakud- which also doubles up as a major flood control mechanism in the state- was a little over 628 feet as against its full storage capacity of 630 feet. As of now, excess water is being released through only 18 gates as against 24 gates of Hirakud dam till early morning today, indicating the gradual reduction in the water intake of the dam. However, a number of villages and large tracts of crop lands are water logged in certain areas of districts like Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, Balasore and Kendrapada. The local administration of these districts have already been put on alert for rendering rescue and relief services to the people.</span><br />
