Water begins to recede in Punjab
In Punjab, water has started receding in the flood-hit areas. However, some new areas of Patiala and Sangrur districts have been flooded. Rescue teams have helped hundreds of people to reach safer places but many people are still for the relief as rescue teams could not reach there due to heavy flow of water. Breaches at various places in canals and Ghaggar river could not be plugged yet as flow of water is fast. Ghaggar river is flowing above the danger mark.

Recently transplanted paddy crop has been destroyed in more than 50 thousand acres of land in about three hundred villages of Ludhiana, Patiala and Sangrur disticts. Today several trucks full of rescue materials including tents and eatables have reached the flood hit areas of the districts. Medical teams are also present in the affected areas.
