Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has said that the war in Europe, deployment of Chinese army along the northern borders, political and economic turmoil in the immediate neighbourhood, all present a different kind of challenge for the Indian military. But, the armed forces are committed to maintaining the legitimacy of India's claims and peace and stability in the region. He was speaking during the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 144th course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khetarpal Parade Ground, in Khadakwasla, Pune on Tuesday. After completion of three years of rigorous military training, the cadets passed out today in a ceremonial event. This included 214 Army cadets, 36 Naval cadets and 106 Air Force cadets, including 19 cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries.<br />''<br />''Afrid Afroz won the President's Gold Medal for standing first in the overall order of merit.  Anshu Kumar won the President's Silver Medal and Praveen Singh won the President's Bronze Medal.
