War in Europe, deployment of Chinese army along northern borders present different challenge: CDS Anil Chauhan

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has said that the war in Europe, deployment of Chinese army along the northern borders, political and economic turmoil in the immediate neighbourhood, all present a different kind of challenge for the Indian military. But, the armed forces are committed to maintaining the legitimacy of India's claims and peace and stability in the region. He was speaking during the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 144th course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khetarpal Parade Ground, in Khadakwasla, Pune on Tuesday. The CDS was the Reviewing Officer for the POP.  <br />''<br />''General Chauhan said as the NDA celebrates its 75th glorious year of its inception, it is a matter of pride for the 144th Course to pass out this year. After completion of three years of rigorous military training, the cadets passed out today in a ceremonial event. A total of 1,175 cadets participated in the parade of which 356 cadets were from the passing out course. This included 214 Army cadets, 36 Naval cadets and 106 Air Force cadets, including 19 cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries.<br />''<br />''Afrid Afroz won the President's Gold Medal for standing first in the overall order of merit.  Anshu Kumar won the President's Silver Medal and Praveen Singh won the President's Bronze Medal. Romeo Squadron bagged the prestigious 'Chief of Staff Banner', for being the Champion Squadron which was presented during the parade.<br />''<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Reviewing Officer congratulated the passing out course cadets, medal winners and the Champion Squadron for their hard work and overwhelming performances.</span><br />
