Wall Street's main indexes fall as Mnuchin says stimulus difficult before election

Wall Street's main indexes fell yesterday as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said it was difficult that a deal on more fiscal stimulus would be reached before the presidential election in November.

A mixed bag of quarterly earnings reports also dampened the investor sentiment.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6 percent, the S&P 500 declined 0.7 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index plunged 0.8 percent.
