Wall Street stocks ended mixed yesterday as investors awaited crucial inflation data and the unofficial kick-off of the first-quarter reporting season.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.3 percent. The Nasdaq Composite index fell 0.4 percent while the S&P 500 ended flat.
