Wal-Mart cuts 11,200 jobs

Retail giant Wal-Mart has said that it is cutting 11,200 jobs at its Sam's Club warehouse chain in the US. The majority of the cuts will hit staff running in-store promotions at the chain, after Wal-Mart decided to outsource these functions. Staff were told the news at meetings yesterday morning. Sam's Club employs about 110,000 staff across 600 stores. Wal-Mart's chief executive, Mike Duke had said that the trading environment for the whole group continued to be difficult.
