W Bengal taking special initiatives to develop Rajnagar collieries

The West Bengal State Government is taking special initiatives to develop the Rajnagar collieries in Birbhum district. A meeting was held today at the Writers’ Buildings on the issue where the State Power Minister Mr. Manish Gupta, the Forest Minister Mr. Hiten Burman and programme implementation agency Bengal EMTA’s top brass were present.Talking to news persons after the meeting, the West Bengal Forest Minister Mr. Hiten Burman said that, power generation in the state is facing a crisis because of lack of coal production.He said, initiatives are being taken to unearth the huge deposits of coal in the 119 acres of land in Rajnagar. He also said that, this land is under the Forest Department and hence has to be acquired following rules and regulations that govern the acquisition of forest land.
