W Bengal Govt okays Mamta's proposal for setting up rly coach factory in Singur

The West Bengal Government gave its consent to Union Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee's proposal for setting up a railway coach factory at the abandoned site of Tata Motors in Singur.<br/><br/>The State Chief Secretary Mr. Ashok Mohan Chakraborty told reporters at the State Secretariat, the Writers' building in Kolkata on Tuesday that he had written to the Railway Board Chairman giving consent to the Railway Minister's proposal.<br/><br/>Mr. Chakraborty said that he has also sought details of the project from the Railways.<br/>It may be noted that the State Government's response comes close on the heels of the Railway Minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee's statement that the Railways is ready to set up a coach factory in Singur, jointly with the State Government or under a public private partnership model.<br/>
