W Bengal Govt announced Rs two lakh compensation each to trawler tragedy victims

The West Bengal Government has announced two lakh rupees compensation each to next of kin of those who died in trawler capsize on last Saturday in East Midnapore district. Meanwhile, with the recovery of 16 bodies today, total number has gone upto 41. According to official sources, the Navy, Coast Guard and the National Disaster Management team are conducting search operations on the Buri Ganga river. The aircraft of the Coast Guard is making aerial survey in the area while hovercraft has also been pressed into service. The Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and the Railway Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee visited the area last evening to supervise relief and rescue work.
