Vyapam scam: Digvijay criticizes detention of whistleblower's wife

Criticizing brief detention of the wife of a key whistleblower of VYAPAM scam Prashant Pandey in Indore, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has said that this is only beginning of the police raj in Madhya Pradesh. Without naming chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Mr. Singh in a series of tweets said that he, his VYAPAM and mining friends, powerful bureaucrats and police officers are so desperate that they won't stop at anything now. It is a question of their survival, he said adding that fight for justice will continue.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that Mr. Pande's wife Meghana was briefly detained by the Indore police yesterday for questioning. Police recovered about ten lakh rupees from Meghana Pandey and suspected that the amount is related to hawala transaction. Police said that Meghana failed to explain where the money came from. On the other hand, Prashant Pandey alleged that the police took this action to mentally torture him. He said that the amount was withdrawn from his account to buy a house.
