The Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Overseas Indian Affairs, Vyalar Ravi has reiterated that government has no plans to bailout any private airlines. He made it clear that Government has not taken any decision to bailout Kingfisher Airlines.
The Minister was responding to a question about reported bailout for Kingfisher Airlines at a press conference in Sharjah on Wednesday. He said any such move would have financial policy implications.
The Minister said the management of any private or public air carrier is equally important and it should be careful to ensure that such a situation doesn't arise.
The Minister expressed concern about the increasing tax on the Air Turbine Fuel. He said efforts are underway to resolve the issue in consultation with the state Governments. About Air India, the Civil Aviation Minister said, the focus is on making it the most efficient and cost effective airlines.
He expressed confidence over the outcome of his talks with pilots, cabin crews and other representatives to bring back the national air carrier to the center stage.
The Minister was presented a memorandum by the Indian Association, Sharjah on issues bring faced by the large expatriate Indian community in United Arab Emirates.
Later he was felicitated by the Indian community at Indian Association in Sharjah.
