Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has stressed upon the need to set up technology incubation centres in universities to develop entrepreneurial skills among students. <br/><br/>The Vice President delivered the key-note address after presenting the certificates to the students at the 8thconvocation of GITAM university in Hyderabad Saturday evening. <br/><br/>Mr Venkaiah Naidu said, the world is shrinking into a global village due to information technology resources and the universities are required to instill in the students competencies so as to enable them function effectively in a globalised world. <br/><br/>He said, India is on the threshold of emerging as a major economic power and universities are expected to excel not only in providing quality education, but more importantly in developing global citizens. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu said, the country is facing a number of challenges like global warming, urban migration, depletion of resources and the universities should equip students with multi disciplinary skills to study these problems and look for solutions to meet the challenges.<br/><br/>The vice President further said, the centre launched programmes like "Make in India, Start Up India" to give a huge fillip to manufacturing sector and embarked on "digital India" to transform the country into a digitally empowered economy and knowledge society. <br/><br/>Telangana minister for Major Irrigation T Harish Rao, Chancellor of the university, Prof K Ramakrishna Rao, faculty members and others were present on the occasion. The Vice President arrived in Hyderabad today on a four day visit.
