VP M Venkaiah Naidu says Amrut Mahotsav should herald reawakening of resurgent and Atmanirbhar India

<span style="color: #222222;">Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has emphasized the need to maintain civility of words and decency of language in public discourse and said that it is necessary for a healthy and strong democracy. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of the 25-day long ceremonial 'Dandi March' organized as part of 'Aazadi ka Amrut Mahotsav' in the historic coastal village Dandi in South Gujarat. Mr. Naidu asked the people to take inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi who always used polite and respectful language even for his opponents. He said that Bapu's principle of non-violence was not limited to physical violence, but it refers to words and thoughts too.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav-a 75 week long celebration to commemorate 75 years of India's Independence, was flagged off by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Sabarmati Ashram on 12th March. The Vice President said that it is a festival that encourages us to rediscover our hidden strengths and prompts us to take sincere, synergistic action to regain our rightful place. Terming Mahatma Gandhi's iconic Dandi Salt March as a watershed moment in our freedom struggle, Shri Naidu said that it altered the course of history.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the program, the Vice President has also released the Special Envelopes on Geographical Indication (GI TAG) Products of Gujarat State Handicrafts Development Corporation. He also witnessed the cultural performance by the folk artists from Sikkim, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">After reaching historic coastal town Dandi this morning, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu first visited the Prarthna Mandir and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi. He also interacted with the foot-marchers who participated in the ceremonial march from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi. The Vice President also visited Saifee Villa where Gandhiji had spent a night on 4th April 1930. He also visited the National Salt Satyagraha Memorial-at Dandi. He emphasised the need to create such memorials for all freedom fighters to inspire the younger generation to follow their ideals.</span><br />
