VP Hamid Ansari speaks at International Conference on Policy of Neutrality at Turkmenistan capital

Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari has reiterated today India's firm stand to work together with global partners to address the challenges of cross-border terrorism, fundamentalism and extremism for regional and global peace and sustainable development.<br/><br/>Speaking at the International Conference on the Policy of Neutrality: 'International Cooperation for peace, security and development at Turkmenistan capital city Ashgabat, Mr. Ansari said that the basic values that underlie the policy of neutrality are of peace, non-violence and peaceful resolution of disputes. <br/><br/>He also said that one of the cardinal principles of NAM was independence from great powers or block politics and rivalries and that did not imply a passive role for the Movement in international politics.<br/>The Vice-President also mentioned of TAPI Project as a key pillar of economic engagement among the four countries.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent says in his report that Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari said that the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, which is going to flag-off tomorrow, is a 'key pillar' of our economic engagement and is in consonance with the particular emphasis that Turkmenistan puts on the economic aspect of neutrality.<br/><br/>Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharrif also said TAPI project and Central Asia South Asia Electricity Trade and Transmission Project(CASA-1000) will open a new chapter in the regional economic landscape. Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also expressed his country's resolve for early implementation of the project.
