VP Hamid Ansari reaches Brunei on first leg of two-nation tour

Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari arrived at Brunei capital Bander Seri Begawan on the first leg of his five-day two-nation tour of South East Asia. At the airport, the Finance Minister-II of the host nation Mr Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, Indian High Commissioner to the Sultanate Nagma Mohamed Mallick and many other dignitaries received him. <br/><br/>The office bearers of the Brunei-India Friendship Association later called on Mr Ansari. Earlier, addressing the accompanying news persons on board his special aircraft, Vice President Hamid Ansari said India is exploring the option of establishing a urea manufacturing unit in the gas-resource rich Brunei. <br/><br/>India is one of the largest importer of crude oil from the nation. Brunei has played an enormous role in enhancing India's engagement with the ASEAN, one of the world's largest economic grouping, when it was the India-ASEAN coordinator during 2013 to 2014. <br/><br/>Vice President Hamid Ansari will meet the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah and Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah. Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs Sunil Wadhwan said signing of MoU's on defence cooperation, health and youth & sports affairs is on the card.
