VP greeted with traditional welcome at Lusaka airport

The Vice President, Mohammed Hamid Ansari has reached Lusaka, the capital of Zambia as part of his week-long tour. Besides Zambia, he will be visiting Malawi and Botswana. He was accorded a traditional welcome at the airport on his arrival. Earlier, talking to reporters on board the special aircraft, Mr Ansari said India has an emotional relationship with these countries. He said his visit will strengthen bilateral relations and render greater assistance in agriculture, education and small and medium scale industries. He hoped to deepen cooperation in these areas. On United Nations Security Council reforms, the Vice President said, India has broad convergent of views with African nations. He said the India-African Forum Summit in April 2008 has given a new thrust to India's engagement with Africa especially in extending credit lines.
