Vice President Hamid Ansari today arrived Bangkok on a three-day visit to Thailand. During the visit he will hold discussions on a range of issues with the country's top leadership to boost bilateral ties. He was received at the airport by Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Juntong. Mr. Ansari will have a one-to-one meeting with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who will also host a banquet in Ansari's honour.<br/><br/>The Vice President, during his visit, will also have an audience with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and deliver a speech at the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok on 'From Look East to Act East: India's Partnership with Thailand and ASEAN'. Besides it he will also address the Indian community at a reception to be hosted by the Indian Ambassador to Thailand. This is the first visit by an Indian Vice President to Thailand after a gap of 50 years. He will return to Delhi on Friday.<br/><br/>Earlier, delivering a speech at University of Brunei in Bandar Seri Begawan, Mr. Ansari said India and Brunei have equal stakes in Asian neighbourhood. He said that both the countries have an interest in maintaining the safety of the sea-lanes in the region. The Vice President also said that India wants to expand cooperation with Brunei in combating terrorism, particularly preventing its financing through sharing of information.<br/>
