Voting process to continue until Nepali Congress candidate remains in fray: Nemwang

In Nepal, with hardly a week left for the eighth round of voting to elect a new Prime Minister scheduled for 26th of this month, the Speaker of parliament Mr. Subhash Nemwang said the rules governing the present process of election cannot be amended until the both the candidates' withdrew from the electoral fray.Talking to newsmen in Kathmandu today after meeting the Unified CPN(Maoist) Prachanda, Mr. Nemwang said the voting process will continue until Nepali Congress candidate remains in the electoral fray. He said the parliamentary rules can be amended after both the candidates withdrew from the contest and clears the field for beginning the process afresh through consensus among the political parties.AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that the Unified CPN(Maoist) candidate Chairman Prachanda has announced his withdrawal from the electoral race following an agreement with the CPN(UML) last week. However, Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said he is not withdrawing from the electoral fray until a political consensus is achieved.
