Voting on US resolution on Sri Lanka at UNHRC today

Voting on the United States’ resolution on Sri Lanka will take place at 2.30 pm (Indian Time) at the United Nations Human Rights Commission at Geneva today. 47 member states are eligible to vote on the resolution.
The US had proposed a similar resolution last year, asking Sri Lanka to make progress on reconciliation with the Tamil community.
Like last year, Sri Lanka has rejected the resolution and asked for a vote on it. Several member states including Sri Lanka, US, UK and China as well as several NGOs shared their views on the situation in Sri Lanka and the resolution in a debate last evening.
