Voting on in WB for 3rd phase LS polls amid tight security

In West Bengal voting has began for third phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state amidst tight security.

Elections is being held in 9 Parliamentary seats at Howrah, Uluberia, Sreerampur, Hooghly, Arambag, Burdwan East, Burdwan – Durgapur, Bolpur and Birbhum covering four districts of the state.

Over 1 crore 39 lakhs 57 thousands electorates will determine the political fate of 87 candidates in this phase of polls.

Altogether 17 thousand 322 polling booths have been opened. Our correspondent reports that besides State Police around 208 companies of central Paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure peaceful voting. Unprecedented security arrangements have been made in political clashes ravaged in Birbhum district.
