In Tripura, polling for the sixty member assembly constituencies has started. Our correspondent reports that people are standing in front of booths to cast their votes Our correspondent reports that a total of 3606 EVMS including standby is being used in the polling process which started from 7 in the morning, in 3,041 polling booths all across the state. The voting today will seal the fate of the 249 candidates in the state which Include Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Finance Minister Badal Choudhury, Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath from CPI (M), and Former CM Samir Ranjan Barman, Opposition Leader Ratan Lal Nath, State Congress President Sudip Roy Barman. The polling is going on peacefully amidst tight security. Though it is the initial hour of polling people are queuing up in polling booths from morning onwards and In the last 5 years, in the three elections that the state has seen, the polling percentage was more than 90%. Tripura has a tradition of high turnout. The voting is expected to pick up as the day progresses.
