In Uttar Pradesh, voting for third phase of three tier local body polls will be held on Sunday. All preparation for voting have been completed and poll parties have reached their polling booths.Voting will be taking place in Aligarh Municipal Corporation and 146 Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayats spread over 20 districts in this phase.AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that a total of 6544 polling booths have been set up for more than 54 lakhs 53 thousand voters.Of them about 5000 thousand have been identified as sensitive and hyper sensitive and extra measures have been taken for these polling booths.Maximum about 600 polling booths have been identified as sensitive in Aligarh district followed by 440 in Shahjahanpur. 9 candidates are in contest for Mayoral post for Aligarh Municipal Corporation.The State Election Commissioner has reviewed poll preparedness with observers, Divisional Commissioners, District magistrates and District Police chiefs through video conferencing. He said that all liquor shops in poll bound districts must be closed before 24 hours of polling.The State Election Commission has deployed observers for each poll bound districts to ensure independent polling.First phase of elections was held on June 24 and the 2nd phase on the 27th. At state capital Lucknow it was held one day earlier on June 23.
