In Gujarat, around 45 per cent polling has been recorded in the by-elections of two Lok-Sabha seats and four Assembly seats today.
Quoting official sources, AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Porbandar Lok Sabha seat has recorded 33 percent polling, while Banaskantha seat has recorded 38 percent.
Limdi Assembly seat in Surendranagar district, has recorded 62 percent polling, while Morva-Hadaf seat in Pannchmahal district has recorded 64 percent.
Jetpur and Dhoraji Assembly seats of Rajkot district have recorded 45 and 33 percent polling. Polling has remained peaceful and no untoward incident has been recorded till now. Counting of votes will be held on the 5th of June.
AIR Correspondent reports, low to moderate polling has been recorded in the by-elections of two Lok Sabha and four Assembly constituencies in Gujarat.
According to primary figures declared by the Election Commission, Morva Hadaf Assembly seat in Panchmahal district and Limdi Assembly seat in Surendranagar district have recorded more than 60 per cent polling.
While, 35 to 45 per cent polling has been recorded in Porbandar and Banaskantha Lok-Sabha seats and Jetpur and Dhoraji Assembly seats in Rajkot district.
Though, the outcome of these by-elections will not impact the present political situations in the state or centre, but it is the contest of prestige for opposition Congress after its defeat in the recent state Assembly elections.
At the other end BJP is hoping to snatch all seats earlier hold by Congress party, which will strengthen the position of Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the state as well as in central politics.
In Howrah Lok Sabha Constituency in West Bengal, about 66 per cent voters exercised their franchise.
In Uttar Pradesh, 50 per cent polling was recorded at Handia assembly seat by-election in Allahabad district.
In Maharajganj Lok Sabha by-poll in Bihar, about 47 per cent voters exercised their franchise. The counting of votes will take place on June 5.
