In Manipur, voting for the elections of 8 municipal councils and 18 nagar panchayats ended this evening. Except some minor incidents, the election was by and large peaceful. The polling percentage of the urban local body election is above 80 percent at an average. The fresh poll will be held on the 5th of this month. Voters came out in large numbers and waited in long lines to cast their votes for the local body election. A total number of about 630 candidates are in the fray for the election of 109 councilors of 8 municipal councils and 170 councilors of 18 nagar panchayats. Counting of votes will be held on the 7th of this month at the district headquarters.
