Volkswagen to recall 4000 Vento cars in India due to inconsistent Carbon Monoxide emissions

German auto maker Volkswagen today said it will recall around 4000 Vento cars in India due to inconsistent Carbon Monoxide emissions. It is also halting the sales of a select version of the Vento model in India with immediate effect.<br/><br/>In a statement, Volkswagen India said, Emissions of some Vento models were observed to be sometimes exceeding the threshold limits during the tests. It maintained that the problem impacts only the manual gearbox version of Vento with 1.5-litre diesel engine and is not connected to the global nitrogen oxide emissions topic.<br/><br/>Last year the company had announced a voluntary recall of three lakh vehicles in India in the wake of the emission cheating scandal that hit the company globally.
