Volkswagen Board meets today to shake up its management

The Board of scandal-hit Volkswagen meets today to shake up its management. On the agenda will be choosing a replacement for chief executive Martin Winterkorn, who resigned on Wednesday. Reports have said that the front-runner for the top job is Porsche Chief executive Matthias Mueller. Volkswagen is also expected to dismiss executives tainted by the scandal over the rigging of emissions tests by software in its diesel cars in the US.The European Union urged its 28-member countries to start their own investigations into Volkswagen's fake emissions tests. Meanwhile, the Indian government has ordered a probe into Volkswagen emissions after the carmaker admitted cheating on U.S. pollution tests. The government has asked testing agency Automotive Research Association of India to evaluate Volkswagen cars.
