Vocational Education Framework launched to create Indian skill pool

The Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kabil Sibal today launched the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework, NVEQF with a view to imparting skill training to the youth in various industrial sectors.

Launching the Programme at a function in New Delhi, he said that the course will started from the Academic Session 2012 in Polytechnics and Engineering colleges of the country.

Mr. Sibal said it will go a long way in addressing the demand for a skill talent pool in various industrial sectors. He said that government aims at generating 50 crore skilled manpower by 2022 to bridge the demand and supply mismatch.

He said the country needs 9 million skilled workforce annually and at present the availability is only 3 million. Mr Sibal also said that infrastructure sectors reqiures huge investment in the coming years for which there will be a need for engineers and skilled manpower.
