In the 2014 World Chess Championship, five time world champion Viswanathan Anand will take on defending champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway in Sochi, Russia today. The Championship will be held from today to 28th of this month.As defending champion, Carlsen directly qualified for this year's Championship. However, his opponent Anand had to go through the Candidates Tournament to seal a place in Sochi. The Indian chess Grandmaster lost the world championship title to Carlsen after the Norwegian defeated Anand 6.5-3.5 at the end of Round 10 of the 12 scheduled games in Chennai last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday conveyed best wishes to Anand ahead of the championship.
