Indian Grand Master Viswanatan Anand has retained the World Chess title for the fifth time. He beat Boris Gelfand of Israel after second round of tie breaker game in Moscow on Wednesday. Anand has held the title since 2007. Viswanathan Anand and Gelfand had earlier played 28 times in rapid chess with Anand winning eight, losing one and drawing 19.In blitz, they have played seven games with three wins for Anand and four draw games.The Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari,the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the Congress President Sonia Gandhi have congratulated world chess champion Viswanathan Anand.In his message Mr Ansari said his victory would serve as an inspiration to country's youth and chess players in the country.In a message, Dr Singh said Viswanathan Anand has made the nation proud with this monumental achievement.In a separate message, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi said, his feet of winning the title consecutively for the 4th time is indeed stupendous.
