Maldivian President Dr. Mohammed Waheed today paid floral tribute at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi.

Dr. Waheed, who is in the country on a five-day official visit to India, met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday in New Delhi. He reportedly discussed the present situation in Maldives with him. This is the Maldivian President's first visit to India after an extraordinary turn of events put him at the helm of affairs in the island nation.

Dr. Waheed, who assumed the office of the President of the Republic of Maldives in February 2012, is also scheduled to visit Mumbai during his visit.
