Visiting Central team to meet Assam CM today

In Assam , the seven member visiting Central team will meet the Chief Minister and State Chief Secretary in Guwahati today separately. They are likely to discuss on various issues of relief and rehabilitation in the affected areas.

The team visited Kokrajhar and Chirang district on Wednesday and took stock of the situation. Assam government is providing financial assistance to rebuild the houses of the displaced people.

Meanwhile addressing a meeting with the opinion makers and the members of the civil society in Guwahati Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has reiterated that the first priority of the government is to restore normalcy and rehabilitate the displaced people.

The Chief Minister said that the government is trying to instill a sense of security among the affected people so that they can go home. The members of the civil society asked all those to go back to their places of work who have returned home from Southern and other states.

Meanwhile, State Law and Order IGP L R Bishnoi said that one person was injured and two were reportedly missing at Bangaldowa in Kokrajhar district last evening when unidentified miscreants resorted to firing.

Assam Police has arrested West Kokrajhar MLA Pradeep Kumar Brahma from his resident at Dotma late last night for his alleged involvement in ethnic clashes. Indefinite curfew clamped in Kokrajhar district this morning by the administration as a precautionary measures.
