Vishu and Poila Baishakh today

Vishu, the Malayalee New Year is being celebrated in Kerala today. <br/><br/>Thousands of devotees are thronging the famous temples of Guruvayoor and Sabarimala for the traditional ritual of vishukani darshan. <br/><br/>Poila Baisakh, the first day of the Bengali calendar 1417 is being celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in West Bengal. <br/><br/>On this day, many traders and businessmen open their accounts in trade for the year, which is also known as Haalkhata. <br/><br/>Gifts are exchanged between relatives and friends and many people dress in new attires. Special prayer meetings have been arranged at temples like Dakshineswar, Kalighat and Belur Math. <br/> <br/>
