Visa Issue : India conveys its concern to Beijing

New Delhi has conveyed its concerns to the Chinese government on the discrimination against visa applicants of Indian nationality on the ground of domicile or ethnicity. Responding to a question on a report in a leading national daily in this regard, the External Affairs ministry spokesman said that the Indian government’s considered view and position is that there should be no such discrimination and its concerns on the issue are well justified. The report had stated that the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi is issuing visas to Indian passport holders from Jammu and Kashmir on a separate sheet of paper rather than stamping them in their passport as is the norm with other Indian citizens.
