Union health and family welfare minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan today said that virology centers will be established very soon in Bihar and East Uttar-Pradesh for quick diagnostic of diseases like encephalitis and Kala-azar.

Ending his two-day Bihar visit, Dr Harsh Vardhan said in a press conference at Patna that five virology centers will be established in Gaya, Bhagalpur, Betiya, Pawapuri and Nalanda.

The Minister said, he will personally monitor the situation of encephalitis-affected areas and centre will provide every necessary requirements to the state government.

Earliar, he launched a two-day vaccination campaign for encephalitis at Kanti village in the Muzaffarpur district.

After launching immunization drive, he said that, the main aim of this campaign is to ensure 100 per cent immunization to the children in the affected areas.
As per the official records, acute encephalitis syndrome has claimed more than 130 lives of children in 10 districts of Bihar so far.
