Virat Kohli's ton leads India to series whitewash over Sri Lanka

Team India defeated Sri Lanka by 3 wickets in the final ODI of the 5-match series last night to complete a series whitewash. Opting to bat first at the JSCA Stadium Complex in Ranchi, Sri Lanka posted 286 for 8 courtesy skipper Angelo Mathews' superb innings of 139 not out.In reply, Indian captain Virat Kohli became the fastest to hit 21 ODI centuries as the hosts overhauled the target with 8 balls to spare. He made a blistering 139 not out. Kohli's 21st ODI ton came in just his 138th innings, and he beat Sachin Tendulkar who had taken 200 innings to get to 21 hundreds in the one-day format.Last night, Kohli was also involved in the 136-run third wicket stand with Ambati Rayadu. Mathews was adjudged man of the match, while Kohli was named man of the series. Team India will now head to Australia next month to play a 4-match Test series and a tri-nation ODI series, involving England. This will be followed by the ICC World Cup which will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from the 14th of February next year.
